Father’s Day is just around the corner. We go from one appreciation day to the next and, if you’re anything like me, you look for special gifts. I am not the gift-card-giving type… I love to make gifts personal, well-thought out, and as unique as possible. I find that it can be difficult to find gifts for my dad. I know the men in my life would be happy with the simplest of things, but I want to throw them a gifting curveball. I want them to be surprised and elated when they pull the lid off that gift box. Plus, I love to support entrepreneurial, small businesses in all of my gift posts which you will find below.
Gift Guide: Father’s Day 2017
Keep in mind, I have tried to include a variety of categories below.
Flaviar Tasting Club
Alcohol. Always a fun gift, right? Picking up a bottle at the liquor store is just too easy. With Flaviar, dad gets a membership allowing him to try several different drinks. This tasting club is for those who enjoy sitting back with a glass of whiskey in hand. You have to be put on a waiting list to join the membership because Flaviar aims to keep their selections personal and of high-quality. With their database of 15,000+ spirits, this membership is a game-changer.
Each delivery has three flavors to try in test-tube style bottles. The package always comes as a theme to make the experience more exciting. The membership is affordable at only $20 a month (billed quarterly). In addition to whiskey, Flaviar also offers the spirits gin, cognac, rum, and bourbon.
Riedel Highland Tumbler
Spirits are enjoyed more when in a crystal glass. Don’t get me wrong, you can enjoy your favorite drink from a can or plastic cup, but it doesn’t bring the experience full circle. No matter how you drink it (straight up, on-the-rocks, or with a mixer), these glasses are made for you. They look great on the shelf and are only $40 a set. Place them next to dad’s favorite decanter and the gift is complete.
Riedel USA also has a beautiful collection of wine glasses and decanter sets on their website. They can be purchased at some department stores.
Wood Watches by JORD
If your dad likes to wear a watch then this might be for him. This is a watch style that you won’t see too much in the stores. Each JORD piece is made with real wood and offers personalized engraving. They are comfortable to wear and are very stylish. The whole website is currently 15% off for Father’s Day (ending June 18th). Their men’s collection includes the Dover, Hyde, Conway, Sawyer, Frankie, Reece, Delmar, and Fieldcrest series. Each series comes in 2-5 colors.
I ordered the Koa & Black Dover Series without an engraving and it is a handsome watch. The band sits on the wrist without irritating the skin and is easily adjustable. When you order it does ask for a wrist size so they can attempt at sizing it for you. This gift is really perfect for the modern, stylish, or just simple father. It looks great with everything and is a gift dad will love! You could engrave their initials, a special saying, or anything that means something to you on the back for a personal touch.
Personally, the dark shades are my favorite. You can look at all of the woods used for watches on their site. These include: bamboo, ebony, acacia, koa, kosso, maple, olive, purpleheart, rosewood, sandalwood, walnut, zebrawood, and golden camphor. If you purchase a watch, there is a special ‘Preserve Cleaning Oil’ made for the care of wood watches which is good for about 4 applications and is only $15.

Thoughtfully – Gifting Stories
You may recall seeing Thoughtfully in my Mother’s Day Gift Guide. I loved the box they sent over to me and my mom did too. I had previously ordered the Tequila Cantina box which came with a cutting board, shot glasses, a knife, and several types of salt for the rim of your glass. The Father’s Day selection on the site is awesome too. My personal favorites are the Saints and Sinners, The Steakhouse, Branded & Grilled, and Hot Sauce Skull Gift Set. My dad, like many others, loves to grill.
I ordered The Steakhouse for my dad (shh… don’t tell him) and I know he is going to love it. This set comes with two dripping bowls, a steak stone with a wooden tray, a carving knife and fork, and four bottles of BBQ sauce. The boxes come already filled with tissue so they’re pre-packaged to give!
Tommy John
It can be hard buying clothes for dad, but Tommy John’s selection makes it easy. Their golf guide is perfect for Father’s Day! Also, they have other categories that may suit your gift-receiver better. Their quarter-zips, undershirts, socks, and hats make for a winning gift package (even if they don’t par every hole in them). Tommy John’s products are designed for daily wear and maximized comfort.
