Today is a BIG day… I am no longer considered a “teen” anymore (thank goodness). But, with maturity comes responsibility and higher expectations. Today, I turn 20!
When I was young I only wanted to be older, but now times flying by. I’m excited to take on this new chapter of my life with an open mind. How could I want it any other way? Everyone makes such a fuss about “21” (and believe me I can’t wait to get there), but twenty seems more monumental for many reasons.
Here are twenty things I’ve learned about life over the past 20 years:
- Never take opportunities for granted
- Appreciate everyone present in your life
- Continue to develop your personal style and “brand”
- Learn to network yourself for connections
- Find hobbies and activities unique to you (hey, blogging friends)
- Discover your true passions
- Find your strengths and improve them
- Never stop learning from the world around you
- Volunteer your time – Find a charity you connect with
- Do everything to reach your goals
- Don’t let anyone tell you “can’t” because you can
- Write down one thing every day to look back on
- Find activities for stress-relief and relaxation (running, ALL DAY)
- Stand up for what you believe in
- Know your morals and stay true to them
- Attend lots of events – they’re great tools for learning!
- Find a little time for yourself every day
- Save your money (no, really it’s important)
- Thank anyone who lends a helping hand
- Be yourself – don’t let others define you
So, here’s to twenty. Because through learning many of life’s toughest lessons, I’ve made it this far. Through the roller coaster of teenage feelings and disasters, I’ve come out a better person.

Is the prerogative to have a little fun“

There’s more time for learning and adventures; I plan on embarking on every journey that presents itself. Let’s see what the future holds!
