It’s that time of year again and there’s no better place to be than New England (especially here in Boston, MA). Autumn is the season of apple picking, sweaters, pumpkin carving, and festivals. The beauty of nature in Autumn can take your breath away and make for perfect family photos. With the start of October, it’s time to plan the perfect fall festivities. So, what are some activities you should be looking forward to?
Cider donuts, orchard visits, hayrides, and fresh baked apple pies with the family. Autumn is the perfect season for family-fun activities! Going to local orchards is a great way to get outdoors and enjoy nature. There are so many things you can do at orchards including corn mazes, apple picking, pumpkin patches, scarecrow building, petting zoos, and grabbing a farm-fresh bite (also, for those 21+ local orchards often have wine and beer tastings available). There is no better bonding experience than getting lost in the orchard together.
Some of my favorite New England Apple Orchards are:
- Russell Orchards
- Apple Crest
- Brooksby Farm <- Go to this farm early or they may run out of apples!
Pumpkin Spice Latte, Salted Caramel Mocha, Caramel Apple Spice, and Pumpkin White Chocolate Mocha. How do you choose the best fall flavor? By trying them all, of course. I am a fan of the traditional caramel flavored drinks or piping hot apple cider, but I know many pumpkin spice “dedicated” fans. These are the people who wait ALL YEAR just for the pumpkin coffee to be back in season. So, if you like pumpkin and haven’t tried it in your coffee then I highly recommend you do!
My favorite local coffee spots:
Football fans love fall because fall is full of football games! Fall is the perfect time of year for tailgating and attending football games at the stadium before the snow arrives. New England Patriots fans have cookouts, viewing parties, and intense football debates during this time of year when the teams are just building rosters and stats.
This year I will be attending the Topsfield Fair and the Big E in Springfield, MA. I attend the Topsfield Fair every year with family and friends. I can’t wait to go again and get my favorite caramel apple coated in walnuts and chocolate chips (yum). The Big E is a huge fair that happens every year in Springfield, MA. This will be my second time going and I’m hoping they have an elephant there again this year! They have many big name artists that play in the venue including Jana Kramer and Brett Eldridge this year.

Comfy sweaters, warm drinks, and pretty colors.
