Oh, what a night it was. TD Garden was all revved up about Bruins Opening Night on October 8th. The buzz in the air, excited fans, and anticipation for some (un)friendly competition. I have been working at the TD Garden now for two years and can’t get enough of Bruins game nights. Believe me, you have NEVER seen a bigger, better crowd of hockey fans banded together!
Working in the Garden is everything I expected it to be and more. I get more excited with every game (especially the wins). The B’s have been in my life since I was a baby. So, from onesies to cheerleader dresses to jerseys I’ve made way to my current position. All of the TD Garden employees seem to enjoy the games very much so, but fans never experience it quite the same.
It’s the calm before the storm that really gets you excited. The quiet, peaceful time of preparation before the fans are allowed through turnstiles. And that calm only lasts so long until black and gold floods the hallways, chants are heard throughout the building, and finally that goal song rings (oh, we ALL know that goal song). There are so many vendors, shops, and giveaways at every game to keep fans engaged and I am proud to be a part of that.
Recently, the TD Garden underwent a series of changes. The two-year renovation processes is still in process with $70 Million dollars being put towards the development. There will be more places to shop, dine, and entertain. In addition, there is a beautiful mural that has been placed inside of the Garden by a local artist: Adam O’Day. Check out this video by the TD Garden below:
Despite the disappointing score on Opening Night, fans were all smiles on-boarding the MBTA after the game. And despite every-s0-aggravating train delays there were still Bruins chants to be heard through every stop. There’s no crowd quite like it. Boston encompasses the true passion of sports fans, charities, and community-involvement. Be more spirited, Boston Fans… you can’t!
Until you’ve met Rene Rancourt, ran around with Blades, engaged with thousands of fans, and fist-bumped the Bruins BIGGEST fan Liam you don’t understand the appreciation of the organization. From the Boston Bruins Foundation to in-game community-related events, the Bruins are trying to make the city of Boston and it’s Suburbs a better place.
Here’s to Saturday Night. Tune in on 10/10 at 7PM to watch the Bruins vs. Montreal.
Who do you think will win?
Now go grab your Dunkin’ and get to the Gahden!
