Have you ever been in the store searching through racks of cards to find the right one? Do you often find that all of the cards you open are too simple or lack that personal touch? Maybe you have found this with the gift bags you are looking to buy.
Every time I need to purchase a card or gift bag from the store, I have trouble finding one that fits my needs. They have cute sayings, but are very plain inside. The left side of the envelope is stark white and the gift bags are super generic.
Not only are they plain, but they can run up to $20+ dollars depending on the card or bag you’re looking for. There’s no need to spend an insane amount of cash on yours! We can make it for the cost of $1 or less. Don’t believe me? Check out how I created mine below.
How can you create the perfect valentine for your lover, family, friends, etc.? I have found a solution for this extremely frustrating problem. DO IT YOURSELF!
Yes, I said it. Be crafty and create that beautiful card or bag you’ve been searching for. It is simple, but makes a huge difference in the gift giving process. The time you put into designing those extra details is well worth it when the receiver recognizes how much you appreciate them. It’s a gift in itself.
First off, go to the nearest dollar store. I’m not talking Five Below or Target… I mean the Dollar Store! Everything there is (you guessed it) $1. You can’t beat that price. I was able to get a set of 2 medium sized bags and a 3-pack of small bags for $1 each. I’ll use two for this Valentine’s Day and have the rest saved for another time.
My Valentine’s Day Checklist:
- Plain Gift Bags: $2
- 2 Packs Gift Bag Filler (Tissue Paper or Confetti): $2
- 1 Valentine’s Day Card: $1
- Glue Sticks: $1
I say to purchase “plain” gift bags because they allow a blank canvas for decoration. The ones you purchase at the store are a paper-type material that is easy to glue or tape onto. The shiny, smooth bags are not your best option for personal decoration because not much will stay stuck to them
- Think about what you want on your card. Is your gift themed? Maybe go with something that aligns with your theme.
- Find photos online that you like and add fun captions to them! Once you’ve created them (see example below), cut it out and glue it to the bag or card you desire.
For this Valentine’s Day I have decided on a minion themed gift. Because who doesn’t love minions, right? I found lots of fun goodies at various stores in the neighborhood.
Check out 5 Below, Target, and other Big Box retailers for inexpensive and fun gifts! You will find great products to build a basket by going to a store that offers a little bit of everything at a low price. It’s a guaranteed hit!
My Finished Products:
This is a concept that you can use for ANY occasion. Birthdays, Graduation, Get Well Soon… YOU NAME IT!
I love being crafty and making people happy and I know you will too. See how excited the gift receiver will be after you’ve created part of the gift from scratch! It will look better than all of the others.
Share this with your friends via Social Media so, they too, can give a Valentine’s Day gift that the receiver truly deserves.
Very creative! I always like to make my own cards whatever the holiday. Everything is so generic now, its nice to add a personal touch!
