Summertime: Must-Have Beach Day Essentials

After spending 10 days on the boat and at the beach I was able to narrow down what I consider ‘Beach Essentials’. Some of the products we bring may be unnecessary and some we forget could be crucial.

Save time by planning beforehand and keeping a mental (or physical) checklist of what you need to take along!

1. Sunscreen

Absolutely do not forget your sunscreen or suntan lotion. It is so important to take one of these products so that you don’t burn and can properly get color. The SPF level is dependent upon the user. I typically use a 15 or an 8 with bronzing enhancers. Some people may need to bring 30-100 if they burn easily.

My favorite is Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration because it doesn’t aggravate the skin and leaves it smoother after. The tan I get from the Hawaiian Tropic products is much more even and natural than some bronzing products.

2. Portable Phone Charger

I think most will agree with me when it comes to the phone charger. Portable one’s can be purchased at many stores! They are a lifesaver… for your phone and MAYBE yourself. If you’re spending a whole day at the beach you definitely want to keep your phone alive. Just think… how will you post statuses and upload photos without some extra juice?

I highly recommend the Qualtry portable chargers. I got mine for $10 plus S&H from a deal on Groupon. They may still have it, but it’s not too expensive otherwise. The charger charges quickly and gives your phone an additional 100% battery life. They are all customizable in various colors and styles.

3. Literature

Distraction. The beach can get a tad boring once you’ve been laying out for hours. Unless there is a beach bar or you have a bottomless cooler, it is a good idea to bring along something to read. It can be tough reading on a phone or tablet in the sun, so I recommend a good book or magazine. Believe me, I never leave for the beach without a fresh read.

Kindle Unlimited has tons of readable and audio books to choose from. If you’re reading hardcover, grab a quick pick at your local library. The sand won’t do much damage to your book!

4. Chapstick or Lip Balm

The salt water and heat can make your lips dry. Take along a good chapstick to keep your lips smooth. There are many that have SPF to prevent burns and promote good health. Some lipsticks, lip balms, and glosses also have SPF so check out a few labels at the store!

I recommend Hawaiian Tropic Lip Balm Stick Sunscreen. My lips stay moisturized all day long with this product. It smells good, feels good, and keeps your lips safe from too much sun.

5. Beach Towel or Blanket

Personally, I don’t feel comfortable sitting in a beach chair all day. I love lying out on a big towel and sun-bathing. There are plenty of towels to choose from and cool blankets are in style now. Try to find one that is soft and doesn’t stick to the sand too much. It’s much easier to shake the sand off, roll it up, and head home without a hassle.

Check out Sand Cloud towels for unique patterns and high-quality material. They are perfect to take with you wherever. I bring mine all over. The sand shakes right off and they’re the perfect size! Use code BiancaP25 for a discount

6. Mucho Agua

Staying out for more than an hour? You are going to need plenty of water to stay hydrated. The sun and heat can quickly dehydrate you. Without water you’ll begin to feel light-headed. It’s dangerous to drink without having some water to stay hydrated between.

My favorite options are Hint Water and Polar SeltzersThey come in lots of flavors and you’ll enjoy them. The Hint Water comes with caffeinated options which I LOVE. We all know plain water can get boring so spice it up!

7. Snack Pack

You could pack a lunch, but sometimes it’s easier to bring snacks along. Something crunchy, something sweet, and something savory. I always bring a collection along because you never know what you’ll want. Plus, there are plenty of healthy snack options.

Harvest Snap Peas and Lentils are the perfect crunchy, flavorful, and healthy snack. Use them as an alternative to a chip or pretzel. Kind Bars come in savory and sweet flavors that are always great to enjoy. Try to avoid the yogurt and chocolate varieties because they are likely to melt.

8. Hair Elastics

Long hair? No problem. When it starts to get hot you may want to throw your hair up into an easy pony or bun. I always bring a couple of hair elastics with me for anyone looking for one.

Everyone’s preferences are bound to vary, so make a checklist that’s unique to you. Share your list with me on Influenster!
