You can Try The World from home this Valentine’s Day (and every other month). Spending a ton of money is completely unnecessary to have a good time. Honestly, you can have a more pleasant time at home than stressing out about making reservations and getting a good seat at the restaurant. Did you ever think about how fun it would be to cook a delicious meal, enjoy some wine and a sweet treat together? It really brings you closer as a couple and shows how you work together. Have yourself a romantic and relaxing time at home with your significant other.
Try The World is a food subscription box that sends you products from all around the world. These aren’t products that try to mimic the ‘real thing’ because they ARE the ‘real thing’ and it’s incredible. Every part of the box is unique to its kind and tastes absolutely wonderful. I have yet to be disappointed by the contents!
There are 3 ways to ‘Explore The World’:
- International Snack Boxes
- A Country of the Month Box
- A Customized Pantry Box
This months country box was perfect for Valentine’s Day. Yes, it’s from Italy. My family is Italian so I grew up appreciating a good Italian meal. This box contained a variety of ingredients including all of those pictured below.
The box comes with a customized card with chef information, ingredient information, country facts, and recipes. I used the Pesto Pappardelle recipe to create a delicious pasta dish! It took about 30 minutes total and only needed 5 ingredients.
- 1 Tablespoon Salted Butter
- Sweet Peas
- Genovese Pesto Sauce
- Egg Pasta Pappardelle
- Small Mozzarella Balls
In addition to the required ingredients I added a little bit of chopped Italian-seasoned chicken for protein.
The recipe claimed to only make 2 servings, but I swear you could feed a family of 4 with this dish! This means bonus leftovers to bring with you to work the next day. You should definitely enjoy this meal, the Italian way, with a glass of red wine.
Of course no good Valentine’s Day meal is complete without dessert, right? This Italy box came with a tasty bag of Amaretti Cookies and a bag of Italian coffee grounds. This is no Keurig coffee (no, no). You can make this in your good ol’ fashioned coffee pot or in the espresso maker for a quick shot. Apparently in Italy they take their espresso down in one sip ~ they’ve got one up on me 🙂
Sweet cookies and strong coffee are the perfect pair… just like you and your Valentine!
You don’t need to splurge on a non-authentic restaurant dish when you can have fun cooking together at home. You will be proud of the meal you made and full of love for one-another and that is what Valentine’s Day is all about.
