This experience was provided complimentary from Sail NYC. All opinions are my own.
I have taken my time exploring New York on previous trips but this time I wanted something different. With Paul coming along with me for our stay at Hotel 48 Lex I knew I’d also like something we would both enjoy. Having always traveled by foot I thought, “What better way to see the New York skyline than by boat?” and so the search began.
After scrolling through countless advertisements and Google search results I kept coming back to the same one, Sail NYC. The boat looked very well-kept, inviting, and perfect for an evening of drinks and dancing. It was an ideal date night.
We boarded an Evening Jazz Cruise on the Yacht Manhattan with many other excited travelers. The ship was more crowded than normal because another wasn’t leaving but the environment on that boat was so fun. There was a buzz of excitement for the trip, occasions being celebrated (4 anniversaries & 3 birthdays!), and we set sail into clear skies.
Stepping inside the boat I knew I was going to love it. The spotless wood floors, built-in bar, seating, and floor for the band (+ dancing) was just right. There was also plenty of space on the deck for everyone to step out and see Lady Liberty in all of her glory. I love standing outside for the fresh air, change in scenery, and for the pure enjoyment of cruising through the water.
A few of the views you don’t want to miss include:
- Manhattan Bridge
- Statue of Liberty
- Ellis Island
- Battery Park
- Brooklyn Bridge
Much like the cocktails, the music was right on. I love listening to jazz at restaurants, hotels, and bars. It is so much better when you get to enjoy a live band. The Sound Waves played a mix of classic songs and jazz versions of modern ones. All night they entertained their audience with music and conversation. The tunes didn’t stop until we were finally ready to step off the yacht.
Our time on the Yacht Manhattan went by so quickly because we were having such a great time! It’s incredible how easy it is to live in those moments and feel such appreciation for those around you. Not only did we meet so many kind people during our short cruise; we were blown away by the kindness and courtesy of all staff members onboard the yacht.
If you’re heading to New York City anytime soon then this is a must. Next time I go back I’ll be hopping on one of the Brunch Cruises, for sure!
