This post was created in partnership with VINOvations.
As always, all opinions are my own.
As you may now know from my last post with VINOvations and Boston Wine School (HERE), I love myself a glass of wine with a meal or just to relax. Good ol’ vino is one of those things that I love to love and, if you’re like me, then you might be one of those people too!
But… do you really know about what you are tasting when you press your lips to that wine glass? Have you ever wondered what makes a Cab a Cab or why Pinor Noir is lighter than a heavy Shiraz? Maybe you just love to taste new wines and that is admirable too 😜
If you want to go all out then you can take heavy-hitter exams through the master court which require months of studying, practice, and a true passion for being in the industry. To be honest though, that is not the majority of us! For me and you and the rest of our circles, just learning the basics on a more understandable level is enough.
100% Snob-Free Zone
That’s where Boston Wine School comes into the picture. They offer exams for everyday people like you and me. Educator Jonathon Alsop knows a thing or two about what it means to enjoy wine and he is about to give you the run down on what you really want to know.
+ you aren’t surrounded by industry elites and experts who make you feel clueless about what you know. This is real talk and real tasting from a self-taught pro who knows all too well about how the wine industry works. You don’t have to be a Somm or even want to be a Somm to take this class.
Tasting, Thinking, and Talking About Wine
I went into this experience nervous because I really didn’t know much about how wine was made and how it gets to it’s final state. Less than 10 minutes in, Jonathon made us feel so comfortable with tasting and engaging with everyone around us. The class size was kept small enough (15-24) that you could learn about each student individually and participate in the conversation without feeling like a small fry 🍟
Two days was the perfect amount of time to get a basic knowledge of wine and have you talking about it more confidently. I feel much more comfortable choosing wines to share with friends and family and/or pair with my meals than I did before the course.
The Perfect Pairing
My favorite part of the class was when you were given a snack plate of olives and top-notch cheeses to pair with your wine. You got to taste and decipher how food can change the taste of a wine on your palate which, unbeknownst to be, it really can!
VINOvations only has you tasting the best wines and light bites. Their walls are lined with bottles of high-quality blends that will leave you swooning. That’s why Boston Wine School and VINOvations have changed my perspective on wine for the long haul.
Boston Wine School | Post-Class Education
You can now sign up for Boston Wine School Level 2 if you want to continue your in-class education. Or, you can sign up for Boston Wine School’s Wine Club to have monthly lessons delivered to your door… in the form of some of the best wines you’ve ever tasted, obviously!
Each delivery comes with wine cards that tell you about the tasting notes, country of origin, and other information that may be helpful to you as you are tasting. With time you start to speak more naturally about the wines and decide which ones you really like and want to recommend.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Boston Wine School sends me the BEST wine every single month. Having subscribed to others in the past, I can honestly say this is the best one in the market right now and is worth every penny that you put into it.
