It’s been a few months since I have shared anything wedding-related – but we are back!
Thanks so much for stopping by the blog and for your interest in our journey to the wedding day. As you may have seen on Instagram, our wedding shower was an incredible day filled with so much love and all of the start-to-finish details that you could think of. My mom is a very talented woman who knows how to interpret my ideas and make them come to life, as she did with our Seriously Sinatra Wedding Shower at Bellevue Golf Club.
Due to my family’s eclectic taste in music, I grew up listening to just about everything. But, there was always something about Sinatra and the Rat Pack that captured my attention. From the toe-tapping fashions to the swanky exclusive parties, there is so much to love from the 50s and 60s.
What was surprising to me was the lack of Sinatra or Rat Pack-themed parties on Pinterest. This family took the idea, pinned the sh*t out of it, and executed what I consider the best party I have been to yet. They got every single detail right and blew away me, the attendees, and our venue.
A special shoutout to the ladies who got truly ‘dolled up’ for the occasion – I love you all.
In The Details
Before you get into it, yes, I do know I am not supposed to be involved with planning my own shower but I only designed the invitation because there was nothing for the theme of the day. It is one of the most impressive designs I have ever put together and boy am I proud of it. Plus, it’s 2021… there is no reason for everything to be traditional.
At each place setting was a favor of a martini glass filled with chocolate pimento olives, the perfect cocktail. The olives were so tasty and I have been using my glass at home! Another bonus gift was a tray of candy cigarettes at the entrance table – smokes that you most certainly can have inside.
Cakes by Erin out of Haverhill put together the perfect wedding shower cake. It featured a classic black and white theme with red roses and music notes scattered about. We cannot wait to see how the wedding cake turns out as Erin is an extremely talented and creative baker and will be baking for our big day! If all goes well, it will be a real standout on the cake table.
Meaningful Entertainment
One of my bridesmaids put together a shoe game that involved me and Paul. They had us each hold a shoe in our hand and answer Most likely to… questions in front of the group. The answers had everyone smiling and, naturally, Paul and I did not agree on which of us was the best dancer. We also played a fun round of bridal bingo that sent lots of lucky ladies home with boxes of chocolate and bottles of wine to enjoy after the party was over.
My mom put together a slideshow of photos of me and Paul from the past 10 YEARS. She played it at the end of the afternoon and, of course, had to get me all teary-eyed (you don’t realize how much time has gone by until you see your baby faces from 10 years prior). I did not expect it but was taken aback by how thoughtful it was. She knows I love When Harry Met Sally so she had It Had To Be You by Harry Connick Jr. playing in the background. The photos included many memories I had not seen in a while but that I will never forget.
All Dolled Up
It took me way too long to choose an outfit for the wedding shower. I was torn between two dresses and I had accessories and shoes for both in case I changed my mind. The winner was this gorgeous fitted Bishop Sleeve Pencil Dress with sheer sleeves covered in flowers.
The dress was white so I wore a Maidenform Slip underneath for both shape and security. The sleeves are what really won me over and it was so well made for the price! The fit was very flattering and the dress did not loosen up throughout the day which is a win for me. I accessorized with pearl hoop earrings and a white Steve Madden heeled sandal.
My hair and makeup were done as my wedding trial (though it will change for the big day) by Hair by Ashalina and Makeup Jules. We will have four artists at the wedding for our whole group but these two will be putting my looks together and I am so thrilled.
A special shoutout to Angie Rahilly Photography for these photos we will cherish
