Thanks to the team at Babblebox, I recently had the opportunity to try a selection of mom and baby essentials. Most of these are used by me and my husband on a daily basis.
We are still new to this whole parenting thing which means every day is a learning opportunity. I find myself on Google looking up the best products for this and that on a regular basis. I look to others for their advice in blog posts and read many a round-up from companies across the web. I hope that this blog is helpful to other moms looking for baby essentials to add to their homes.
WaterWipes
So you have a baby? Well then, wipes are a no-brainer. I’ve come to learn very quickly that wipes are used for much more than a dirty diaper. We use wipes to wipe Isla’s face, clean off the changing pad, make pacifiers good-as-new, wipe our own hands, and so on. Wipes are, all things considered, the most used baby product in our home (and diaper bags). There are an overwhelming number of wipe selections on the market. I have been through many and we are only two months in! What I’ve learned is everyone has their own opinion but the same few brands pop up time and time again.
WaterWipes has been recommended to me numerous times and that I have been happy to use for Isla’s baby skin! I love that the baby wipes are 100% biodegradable and plastic-free and clean thoroughly while helping to protect sensitive skin. These pure wipes are made with 99.9% water and biodegrade in just 4 weeks – you can even put them in your home compost pile.
Boon GROOVE Drying Rack & NURSH Bottles
Two more essentials we have used from day one include a drying rack and baby bottles. I love the look and functionality of the Boon products. They design everything to be both useful and stylish.
The GROOVE Customizable Drying Rack will carry you far past the newborn stage. It fits up to six bottles, nipples, pump parts, and other smaller items. My favorite part about the drying rack is it’s fully customizable. You can move the parts to wherever makes the most sense for you. And, while you can’t see it in the photo, there is another larger basket piece on the back of the rack as well. Once you are done using it, the full rack folds flat so you can store it for use later.
Have you been through the bottle juggle? We have tried so many. The NURSH Silicone Pouch Bottle is different than every other we have tried. Unlike your typical plastic bottle, the silicone pouch actually collapses as you feed to reduce air intake. This helps to decrease painful gas, reflux, and colic (something we can all get behind). They are PVC and BPA-free and can be washed in the dishwasher which is a huge time-saver for most of us parents.
The First Years Brand Baby Bather
Sometimes we all need a good wash. Isla has been a bit skeptical of her sink baths… it has been an adjustment for her. We were previously putting her in the kitchen sink but have transitioned to using the Sure Comfort Folding Baby Bather in our shower. I will use our shower sprayer to give her a good rinse and have her sit in the bather next to me if I am showering at the same time. It has been nice to finally shower again without her getting upset that I am not giving her attention, ha!
The material of this infant bather is mesh and it is inclined so they are secure when sitting in it. You can use it from birth up to 15 pounds in your sink or your bathtub/shower. When you are not using it, the baby bather folds up compact so you can store it in the bathroom or nursery. While we won’t be able to use it for a long period of time, it is a wonderful item to add to your baby registry.
Disney Lullaby Playlist
Prior to having a baby, I played music all day long. When there is no music playing on our speaker, I have it in my headphones or on in the car. Music makes every day so much better! Now that I have Isla, I play a lot more baby-friendly music both during quiet and awake times (she loves when we sing to her). As a Disney fan, I was so excited to discover the Disney Lullaby playlist.
Whenever Isla goes down for a nap I have soft music on in the background. The Disney Lullaby playlist is a compilation of instrumentals and soothing versions of your favorite Disney songs. The songs help the baby drift off to sleep and are also pleasant for mamas and dads to listen to. I love putting it on and reading while Isla’s eyes start to flutter closed. It’s an experience that also helps me relax. You can find the playlist in a variety of convenient places to stream on your phone, computer, or tablet.
Stride Rite Baby Shoes
Stride Rite has baby and kids shoes to fit all different ages. They have been creating shoes since 1919 that are designed for comfort and coordination. I love the designs of their children’s shoes, many of which include Ortholite® memory foam for extra comfort.
Isla is still a peanut so we got her the Emilia Baby Bootie in Size 1. The shoe has a premium leather upper that makes for a super soft and comfortable material on Isla’s little feet. In addition to an anti-microbial twill lining to help reduce odor, these booties have beautiful floral embroidery along the sides and faux laces so they are easy to slip on and off without actually tying anything.

Candlewick Press Children’s Books
This one is for my fellow bookworms. I love books so much that we asked all of our shower guests to bring their favorites for Isla’s library. We have a bookshelf full of special reads with notes from our friends and family. I love the various children’s titles Candlewick Press offers and that they are a publisher based out of my home state of Massachusetts!
The title we received was I Am A Baby, written and illustrated by Bob Shea. The book is 40 pages long featuring entertaining literature and imagery for parents and babies. If you enjoy books like Go The F*** To Sleep then this is another you will want to add to your kid’s library.
